Animated Video Explores Empathy and Our Desire For Community and Connection

If you turn on the television, it doesn't take long to be deluged with sensational, negative media about all of the ills of the world, but Jeremy Rifkin's animated short video reminds us that actually we desire connection and community. That may seem hard to believe in a world that seems to thrive on humans feeling isolated, unhappy with themselves, and addicted to tearing other's people sense of self down in order to make ourselves feel better.

But in truth, science is showing that we, by nature, are not greedy, and that actually we blossom by building bridges with other humans through empathy. Furthermore, he illuminates that other living creatures feel this too, that it isn't simply a human trait.

Empathy helps us understand the journeys and lives of others. When we can feel what someone else has gone through, we are less likely to take pleasure in their failings or their differences from us, but instead, we begin to see what brings us together.

The more we feel less alone, the more momentum of positive change occurs. That is the why empathy is at the root of A Beautiful Body Project.
